THE ARTIST'S HORSE AS MUSE

Kim Farris

This horse was abused as a youngster. He was bought by a customer of mine who already had several horses. She took her time earning his trust and watched as his personality bloomed before her eyes! He is still shy but is magnificent to watch when he moves. She named him Keeper because he was the one no one wanted, but became a true show champion.

When she told him that I was going to paint his portrait, he just said "Aw, shucks". Keeper is my favorite of all the portraits I’ve done because of his strength, his spirit and his humble personality.
