Being a horseless horselover wasn't easy. I endured many years of angst, taking joy in seeing horses whenever I could. When I could bear it no longer, however, Fate found a way to make my lifelong dream come true and bring a sparkle back to my eye. I had the blessing of sharing our half-acre property with a little AMHA registered miniature black stallion, Diamond B Night Cruiser.
Cruiser became that Black Horse of my dreams; A little buddy, Cruiser made himself right at home in my studio, and enjoyed playing with my siberian husky, Roxy. At only 31" tall, Cruiser was too small to ride, even for the smallest of children, but that didn't concern me at all. He was "just what the doctor ordered" to fill that void that had been in my life, and provided me with an equine companion to inspire me on. It was not meant to be forever, though, as new zoning regulations forced me to give up my little buddy whom I miss dearly.
Almost as though God himself intervened at the right time in my life, however, I am now happily leasing a very beautiful Morgan cross gelding named Tattoo, who is the son of JMF Boogie Beam, a black Morgan who has modelled for many of my paintings and who's son, Knight Kruiser, was the reasoning behind her little miniature horse, Cruiser - her own little mini-morgan. A novice in the saddle, I have been progressing in my riding skills with my new partner. I look forward to spending the next few years building my confidence in the saddle which will surely translate to what I see on my canvas. Much thanks to Joan Foulston for allowing me the opportunity to lease this very handsome fellow!
The beauty of this Morgan/Arabian gelding, Tattoo, shines through in this pastel painting. So full of life, such a beauty to behold, you just can't take a bad picture of him! To me, he is "My Black"!
