THE ARTIST'S HORSE AS MUSE

Juliet Harrison

Tony came into my life after 43 years of dreaming. It seemed all I ever wanted was a horse. When I bought him he was 6 years old and I have had him now for 5 ½ years. He is a 16.3h Belgian/Quarter Horse with lots of personality. I ride him Western and English (in a Dressage saddle) and he drives like a dream. Chock full of playful behavior and having a very cute look belies the fact that he is incredibly well mannered on the ground and when you are on him. But what is so special about Tony is how being with him makes me feel. Whenever I am with him, my heart rate drops, my breathing slows down and I smile a lot. Although I have many "cute" photographs that I have taken of him, "Tony, my peace" is the one that most closely expresses my relationship to this wonderful horse.
