Clashing Youngsters
by Susan Leyland
8" x 11" clay
Sold
(then)
"HORSES MADE IN SEMI-REFRACTORY CLAY, FIRED AND MOUNTED ON OLD WOOD, STONE AND CLAY BLOCKS"

Quiet
by Susan Leyland
11" x 15" clay
Available - Inquire
(now)
"HORSES STILL MADE IN SEMI-REFRACTORY CLAY BUT THE HORSE AND BASE HAVE BEEN FUSED TO CREATE WHAT I CALL "HORSE BLOCK SCULPTURE"."

Long Road Home
by Mal Luber
48" x 48" acrylic
Available - Inquire
(then)
"Original photograph from which painting was done was taken on an equine/western photo shoot in Durango, CO. It represents the trails and open spaces I travelled on that experience."

Power of Two
by Mal Luber
48" x 36" acrylic
NFS
(now)
"Two draft horses in a field of hay. Photographed on a farm in Vermont, then recreated in paint. Two majestic Belgian draft horses working together as a team."

Ocean Wind
by Heather Mitchell
12" x 16" acrylic
(then)
"This was what I call a 'play painting' - no reference photo and only the memory of some lovely sunsets I witnessed in the Gulf of Mexico years ago. It is somewhat impressionistic in style and amateurish in technique, but I was pleased with it at the time."

Autumn Light - Lippitt Colt
by Heather Mitchell
12" x 16" acrylic
Available - Inquire
(now)
"Another 'play painting' - no reference photo. I had, however, seen this spectacular colot in a DVD and painted him from memory. He exemplified all that a Lippitte colt should and is my Morgan ideal. I didn't get caught up in details - as I usually do - just painted the memory and splashed him with autumn light."

The Triad
by Rebecca Moore
18" x 12" charcoal
NFS
(then)
"This was one of my first equine pieces in charcoal. I had no reference photos of my own, so I had to use photos from a magazine. As you can see, I didn't do a very good job of making them look like they go together!"

CWP Chances Are
by Rebecca Moore
18" x 24" charcoal
Available - Inquire
(now)
"I drew this from a photo I took at a breeder's open house. This stallion was gracious enough (or vain enough!) to take long pauses so I got a great shot which made drawing him easy. This drawing received second place at the Western States Horse Expo this summer."

Spring
by Marilyn Newmark
9" x 13 1/2" x 4"
(then)

Pasture Pals
by Marilyn Newmark
12 1/2" x 18 3/4" x 6 1/4"
(now)

Foal and Butterfly I
by Delia Pacheco
16" x 20" colored pencil
NFS
(then)
"In 1986 I lived in Missouri and bred Arabian Horses, this foal in the drawing Chushan, was my first foal by my stallion out of my prized *Chutor++ daughter. This foal was born unexpectedly one morning, he was not suppose to come for another 4 days...I went to the barn to feed and there he stood looking at me as I pitched a flack of hay. He had such long legs he looked like a freak, when he matured he was almost 16 hands tall, big for an Arabian.

One day in the pasture I saw him backing up franticly, there he was with a Butterfly attached to his nose. He did not know how to get it off , and the look on his face was as in this drawing. You can see the reflection of the butterfly in his eyes. I still have his arthritic 27 year old mother, but Chushan's fate was really short lived, maybe for about 8 years."

Foal and Butterfly II (gee wish I could fly)
by Delia Pacheco
16" x 20" acrylic
Available - Inquire
(now)
"I have a friend in Colorado that breeds the most beautiful Quarter Horses I have ever seen, they have beautiful conformation, muscling and particularly great heads. She sent this photo of her foal resting his chin on a fence, when I saw it I imagined a Butterfly sitting there and the foal thinking "gee wish I could fly"

A particular note on this painting, a few years back this painting was displayed for a month at a Country Club, there it disappeared but I found it two years later."

The Journey
by Dian Paura-Chellis
20" x 26" pastel
Available - Inquire
(then)
"Whatever we do in life has to come from within ourselves."

Commissioned Portrait
by Dian Paura-Chellis
20" x 26" pastel
(now)
"This is one of the pieces that was commissioned by the Empire Appaloosa Club for the high point winner for their end of the year rewards."

Have You Driven a Fjord?
by Kathi Peters
10 3/4" x 7" watercolor
Available - Inquire
(then)
"With a background in fashion illustration, I started painting the world around us in Pownal, Maine. Driving became a main focus of my equine work and still is. With simple watercolor lead me to kick up my drawing skills a notch, and lead to more realistic watercolor portraits."

Head Study, Acadia
by Kathi Peters
10 1/2" x 7" watercolor
(now)
"Watercolor is still one of my favourite mediums. This portrait of a driving horse at Acadia National Park has been featured in national magazines and published in limited edition prints. The original work is sold."
