THE ARTIST'S HORSE AS MUSE

Inge Manders

"Of these they dream... with yearning soul,
Of speed and strength and heart of gold,
Lacking both wing and horn."

All little girls dream of riding beautiful horses.... and mine was always sitting astride mighty stallions....necks arched...manes flowing...coats gleaming...but as most little girls I also dreamed on Unicorns and Pegasus and could never figure out which I prefered.

"Of these they dream" is based on those long ago dreams which for me had and have become reality. The girls are my two nieces and the horses are stallions that I have been honoured to have owned. The palomino was a Welsh Arabian cross stallion named Indian King (Yogi), the grey Lusitano stallion "Esclavo" and the Friesian stallion "D'jurre".
