Canadian Animal Artist Heather Anderson grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and studied art at Algonquin College.
The Fine Arts program at Algonquin taught the traditional methods of drawing and painting and Heather still takes pride in hand-drawing each image.
Her award-winning art has been juried into shows and art festivals, appeared as cover art, in articles, and as illustrations in various horse and dog magazines in North America and Europe, and was featured in a television biography on a national Canadian network.
Heather works in watercolor, colored pencil, graphite, and acrylic. Heather's deep life long love of animals translates into paintings that lovingly and accurately capture both the spirit and the physical attributes of her dog, cat, and horse subjects.
Heather and her husband share their country home with three Shelties, an American Eskimo/Sheltie mix, a cat , and wonderful memories of a dearly loved Morgan. When not painting, Heather enjoys reading, gardening, writing, classical music, and playing with the family pets.
This April, we still have some snow at Sheltie Hollow, but the Spring bulbs are finally nosing out of the ground to tell us that Spring really is here. I had Spring in mind when I painted "Classic Collie". It is based on memories of wonderful Collie stories that I read as a child, and that can still give me a happy hour or two of escape to a place where the grass was always green, the Collies always wonderful, and it always seemed to be Spring.
