 This relatively early stage of Arabesque in the clay shows the rider placed temporarily on the back over a piece of plastic for easy liftoff. In keeping with the formal attire, the mare is wearing a full bridle.

 This very early shot shows the aluminum mesh cut and folded for the shadbelly (tails). Only a very thin layer of clay is necessary over the aluminum mesh to hold shape. The ears and brim of the hat were worked the same way.
