Each of the horses in Friesian Spectacular was sculpted on his own base, and the jump was made of cardboard covered with duct tape. Their armatures were angled into their sides to leave room for rider and tack.

The finished clay pieces were screwed down to a larger piece of plywood and the proper placement of the clay covered jump was outlined on the boards for transport to the foundry.
